Welcome to Washington, D.C.! That’s what my wonderful couple, David and Misty, wanted to represent with their wedding welcome gifts! And as I recently started offering custom watercolor map designs, in walked bride, Misty, who wanted to add this beautiful element to her special day! It was truly the perfect timing and I was so thankful for this opportunity!
Misty and David, along with Tiffany of Simply Breathe Events, planned an amazing wedding weekend centered around Decatur House, where the couple would tie the knot and host their reception. The weekend started at Umaya Izakaya, a favorite restaurant of the couple! Rather than painting the entire restaurant, I decided to go with an adorable sushi symbol pointing them in the general direction. (Uber can get them where they need to be!) 😉 Guests were staying in either the Hampton Inn or Club Quarters Hotel, so those were musts for the map design. The wedding party planned to get ready at The Hay-Adams Hotel and since it’s right across the street from the ceremony and reception location, I included that, as well. I added in streets names and a couple nearby D.C. landmarks (Lafayette Square and the White House), so guests knew their general whereabouts.
What did their welcome gifts consist of? Misty and David LOVE Key Lime La Croix! I love it, too, and was happy to include this in their wedding welcome gifts! They are actually living in Wisconsin now, so when I learned that and David’s love for popcorn, what better way to tie in those details than locally made “White House White Cheddar” popcorn?! It was the perfect salty snack! Misty loves dark chocolate and David loves pretzels, so dark chocolate covered pretzels happily married those loves. Their custom watercolor welcome map was printed on the front of each welcome note with details about the wedding weekend. Misty also included a sweet poem on the back! It not only served as a helpful detail, but a love memento to cherish for a lifetime!
