Watercolor Crests
I learned how to digitize my watercolor designs and the rest is history!
What started out as wanting to make some labels, grew into offering watercolor crests, pet portraits, maps, and more!
I'll paint the special details of your crest, digitize it, and help you add the artwork to stationery, gifts, and other thoughtful welcoming details that will allow you to include and cherish your love story in all your special moments!
In 2015, I founded The Welcoming District as a gift design studio and loved helping couples welcome wedding guests with the goodies that told their love stories. It was so fun discovering new treats to gift, but packaging was often the greatest challenge. Many makers had excellent products, but their branding didn't quite match the aesthetic I was representing. That's when I decided that I wanted to start making my own labels to help couples welcome their guests graciously with their love stories. I always enjoyed painting, so.....
I ended up refocusing my business on watercolor artistry to tell your story and graciously welcome your loved ones.
Your love story is beautiful and unique! Let's paint an heirloom you can cherish forever and use to welcome loved ones!

WHATEVER DETAILS YOU CHOOSE TO INCLUDE, IT'S SURE TO BE BEAUTIFUL, TIMELESS, AND YOU!
starting at $275
A custom watercolor crest is a beautiful representation of your lives coming together as one. Each icon can represent your individual/shared interests, hobbies, careers, special places, and more! Crests are a fun way to add your personality to wedding details and can even act as a "logo" for your special day! They can be used early on for save-the-dates, bridal showers, and your wedding website and then as a continued aesthetic throughout stationery, signage, wedding welcome gifts, and favors.
Long after your wedding day, use this piece of family heraldry on home decor and personalized family stationery. A flag outside your home, notepads to write messages to your child's teacher, and embroidered crest towels are just a few of the many ways they can be enjoyed for years to come!
CUSTOM WATERCOLOR CREST Pricing
If you use details in my collection. you can customize a watercolor crest for the base price of $275. But if you'd like to tailor your design with pet portraits, custom florals/icons, etc., please see below for more information and pricing.
Custom crest add-ons
A custom floral mix allows you to honor your wedding flowers if none of my set combinations complement what you'll use. With a custom mix, you can send me notes from your florist or inspiration photos. I'll use stems from my collection to celebrate your palette!
I have a lot of hand-painted flowers and icons, but sometimes a custom detail is needed to celebrate those special places and memories. Most icons/floral stems are $50 each. If it's something more intricate, a custom quote will be provided.
Include your fur baby on your crest! You'll receive proofs, edits, and separate files of this special artwork. Watercolor pet portraits may be full-body or bust and will be painted in the likeness of their reference photo.
I partner with Shuler Studio for interlocking monograms. You purchase a design from them and then send me the files. I can hand-paint that design to go in the center of your crest. You'll also receive your hand-painted monogram files to use independently from your crest.
Honor your wedding venue by placing it on top of your crest! This is a beautiful option for venues with a lot of symmetry and pretty rooflines. A hand-painted wedding venue can be repurposed on other stationery ordered through The Welcoming District. Pricing varies upon complexity.
Any of my crests using the Classic, Signature, Grand, or Asymmetrical banners come with banner text. The base price includes typed text. But if you'd like an even more artisan look, handwritten banner text may be for you!
If you have a color swatch you'd like me to match for your crest's shield and banner, then a color adjustment is for you! This also applies to icons and flowers with my consent. Pricing for icon and floral adjustments varies depending upon complexity of the color change.
I draw crest "line images" by hand once your watercolor crest is complete. These designs are vectorized and allow for engraving, letterpress, large-scale and single-color printing. This additional artwork gives you more printing options and is so elegant!

Virginia Rose & Jakob met in London so they wanted mirroring lions to represent England. They chose Scottish thistle to honor where they got engaged at Arthur's Seat. The bride is from Florida and the groom is from Austria. A flag represents each country and the Floridian needed a little orange, of course! They used their crest on wedding programs and a garden flag and gifts to welcome guests!

Naina & Josh had two ceremonies at Tranquility Farm over their wedding weekend. They wanted their crest to honor a bit of each celebration and represent where they're from (DC & Maryland), their shared love for travel (the giraffe & elephant), and professions (doctor & lawyer). They used their crest on wedding welcome gift details and programs! What a beautiful weekend to remember!

More than anything, Gracie & Andrew wanted their wedding crest to represent their shared Christian faith. A cross was placed between the shield and banner and the rest of the design acknowledged their beautiful, coastal wedding palette. I hand-painted their Shuler Studio monogram and they were able to use that on their dance floor! This sweet couple used their crest on stationery and cocktail details!

Maddie & Cameron wanted their crest to represent the beautiful, colorful wedding they planned at Brentsville Hall! Their main focus was their floral palette with subtle nods to their pups through paw prints.
This sweet couple printed their crest on invitations and menus. It adorned pretty cocktail napkins and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. They even projected it on the wall at their reception!
