In Memory of Addie and Bunk
2020 was a difficult year for many. Many found comfort in their fur babies while spending more time at home. But unfortunately for my dear friend Courtney and her family, they lost their two sweet pups. Addie, a yellow Labrador Retriever and Bunk, an English Bulldog crossed the Rainbow Bridge just months apart from one another this year.
Knowing her sister was hurting from the loss of two pets, Courtney’s sister, Elizabeth, reached out to me about painting their portraits. What a thoughtful way to remember and cherish these beloved pups!
Dog Portraits
Because it would give Courtney more options, I painted her pets separately. First, I sketched each pup and sent those to Elizabeth for approval. Next, I hand-painted and digitized the portraits. Once I sent those for approval, Elizabeth and I agreed that Bunk needed a back paw added. While you can’t see one in the photograph, once his portrait was on a white background, it looked odd. That flexibility is one of my favorite things about digitizing artwork.
