Anniversary Gift
My aunt’s friends, Karen and Dave, celebrated a major milestone this year. They’ve been married for 50 years! In honor of this special occasion, she commissioned a watercolor crest to represent the life they’ve built together.
Their Story Represented
Karen and Dave were married on July 11th, 1979. These high school sweethearts from Lewisburg, PA have three children. Since Dave served a career in the Army, they have lived in many different places. He retired as a Colonel and through every move Karen was the “heart of their home.” They love cheering on the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Because they decorate with navy blue, I used that as the crest and banner color. The florals were a nod to their wedding flowers and I even added a few pansies just like the bouquet she carried.
Printing the Crest
A framed print for their living room is what my aunt had in mind when starting the project. Because we ended up taking a playing cards icon out of the crest (and the family LOVES to play cards), I ended up printing their crest on a deck! They turned out beyond adorable! Karen and Dave loved their thoughtful anniversary crest and gifts. It will be something they cherish forever just like their marriage!
